About Holzwerk Walter
Holzwerk Walter operates the Furthmühle at the Kleiner Brombachsee lake in Pfofeld in the Franconian Lake District. The family business has been owned by the Walter family since 1748 and runs a sawmill, a planing mill and a timber trading operation. It manufactures and trades in construction and squared timbers, edged boards, laths, planed products, solid wood products such as decking boards, round timber palisades, OSB boards as well as products for gardens and terraces. In addition to distributing its own products, contract work is carried out, including sawing, edging, planing, impregnation, wood drying on request and wood grading. The main species processed are spruce, larch and oak, with a large proportion of the raw materials sourced from domestic, sustainably managed forests; suppliers adhere to certifications such as PEFC or FSC. Production is partly supplied with CO₂-neutral energy by a photovoltaic system and a wood chip heating system. Customers include commercial buyers from the construction industry, landscaping and timber trading as well as private customers; even small, individual orders and custom dimensions are executed at short notice.
