About Holzwerke Weinzierl
Holzwerke Weinzierl is a sawmill founded in 1935 and now run in the fourth generation. With an annual log sawing volume of around 650,000 solid cubic meters, the company ranks among the most high-performance softwood sawmills in Germany. Only fresh, small-branched roundwood is processed, predominantly spruce as well as small quantities of fir, sourced from sustainably managed and PEFC-certified forests. Sawing is carried out precisely and dimensionally accurately using state-of-the-art technology. From the residual materials generated during processing, the mill produces around 200,000 tonnes of wood pellets annually, supplying heat from wood to approximately 40,000 households. The company covers most of its own electricity needs from renewable sources such as photovoltaic systems and biomass power plants, equivalent to the consumption of around 10,000 private households.
