About us

Holzwerkstätten Thomae GmbH & Co. KG is a family-run timber construction company from Römhild/Gleichamberg in Thuringia, founded in 1929 as a carpentry business and sawmill. Now in its fourth generation, the company is led by Dipl.-Ing. Wolfhard Thomae and specialises in carpentry work, heritage-compliant restoration of historic roof structures, new construction in timber and timber-frame construction, and timber house building using the glue-free Thoma Holz100 building system. In the company's own workshops in Römhild/Bedheim, components and closed timber building elements are fully prefabricated in enclosed halls and delivered to the construction site dry. Native timbers such as larch, beech and moonwood are processed, as well as copper, cellulose and wood fibre insulation, wood-based panels and historic roof tiles. For surveys, a 3D measurement system, the Leica BLK360 G2, is used. Projects include monuments, churches, monasteries, castles, residential buildings and public buildings throughout Germany.
