HoWe Wurstwaren KG, headquartered in Nuremberg, is one of the leading manufacturers of Nuremberg Rostbratwurst. The sausages may be produced exclusively in the city of Nuremberg according to a prescribed and protected recipe. The origins of the Nuremberg Rostbratwurst date back to the 14th century; to this day, production is subject to strict quality controls by the city of Nuremberg, and since July 15, 2003, it has been protected as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) of the European Union. The product range includes the classic "Nürnberger Rostbratwürste" as well as a light variant with 30% less fat, complemented during the grilling season by an extensive range of various grilling sausages. The Nuremberg site houses production, the factory outlet and the bistro at the "MBISS" plant. In addition, there is a recipe cooperation with Alfons Schuhbeck.
