About us

HPT Hirsch Prüftechnik GmbH, based in Zweibrücken, specializes in magnetic particle testing (MT testing) and demagnetization of steel components. The core of the technology is a direct-current pulse-based process developed by Dr.-Ing. Peter Hirsch: capacitor discharges generate high-energy pulse currents that reveal cracks as stray fields – with test results available after as little as around three seconds. The company offers testing equipment and testing services, including the 4-pole method with direct current flow for flat components, the combined method for rotationally symmetric components, and a contact-free method with crossed coil fields. This even allows multi-ton steel components to be tested non-destructively and permanently demagnetized. Fields of application include structural steel construction, shipbuilding and submarine construction, and the manufacturing industry. The technology was based on Hirsch's research and development work in submarine construction from 1980 to 1989.
