About the HS Timber Group

The HS Timber Group (formerly Holzindustrie Schweighofer) is an Austrian wood processing group headquartered in Brand, Lower Austria, with more than 2,700 employees at seven production sites worldwide. Its core business comprises sawmill production of spruce and pine into sawn timber as well as construction and packaging timber, further processing into planed, profiled and glued semi-finished and finished products, blockboard and concrete formwork panel manufacturing in Comănești, and Post & Beam production in Rădăuți. In most sawmills, biomass CHP plants generate heat and green electricity from bark; pellets are also produced. Through its stake in DABG, Dr. Anna Bauthen GmbH, the group is active in timber trading with North Africa and the Middle East. With the sawmill investment in Gobernador Virasoro, Argentina, commissioned in 2024 (joint venture with Forestcape, approx. US$ 100 million), the group is represented on three continents. Capacities range from the Kodersdorf sawmill (1.2 million m³ annual cutting volume) and Reci (800,000 m³ roundwood) to the world's largest blockboard production at a single site in Comănești (135,000 m³).
