About Hütt-Brauerei

The Hütt-Brauerei in Baunatal-Rengershausen near Kassel was a Lower Hessian private brewery that was owned by one family for nine generations at the Knallhütte from 1752 to 2025. It produced beer specialities under the Hütt and Hessisches Löwenbier brands in the Classic, Organic and Non-Alcoholic ranges as well as non-alcoholic beverages such as Hessische Löwenlimonade. In 2008, 67,500 hl of beer and 8,500 hl of non-alcoholic beverages were produced; beer sales in 2019 stood at around 53,000 hl, of which around 30 percent was draught beer. In addition to the brewery, the company included a brewery store offering advice and event advertising materials as well as the Knallhütte restaurant and brewpub. Due to a lack of a successor, the brewing operations were shut down in 2025 and wound up in an orderly liquidation; the Hütt and Hessisches Löwenbier brands, including the recipes and supply contracts, passed to the Schlossbrauerei Rheder in Brakel, which continues production. The Knallhütte restaurant remains in operation.
