About Hugo Schmitz

Hugo Schmitz GmbH & Co. KG is a cold rolling mill and heat treatment site in Hagen-Hohenlimburg founded in 1876 and, since 2017, a company of the Risse + Wilke group. The company produces semi-rolled strip steel, alloyed and unalloyed, in particular spring steel strip, quenched and tempered steel strip as well as steels for cold forming. This includes various edge qualities and surface finishes. In the field of heat treatment, Hugo Schmitz offers a lead-free and hydrogen-free hardening treatment as well as quenching and tempering, in particular for strip thicknesses up to 5 mm with tight tolerances on hollow dies. With modernised quenching and tempering lines and a device for colour tempering, quenched and tempered steels are delivered in colours ranging from silver through yellow to blue, with high strip flatness without coil set and twist. Customer industries include, among others, steel processing, cold forming and mechanical engineering.

Quality

The quality of the strip products is ensured by modern quenching and tempering lines; according to the company, the tempered strips exhibit excellent flatness without coil set (ring bow) and twist, thereby reducing subsequent straightening effort. Certifications according to ISO 9001 and DIN EN ISO/TS 16949 are documented (status of data source 2008/2009).
