About Hybridbox AG
Hybridbox AG, based in Switzerland, designs and realizes complete energy solutions – from neutral strategy development and energy studies through project development and implementation of the overall project to delivery, integration, service and maintenance of the systems. The core product is the patented energy center Hybridbox®, which produces heat, electricity and cooling decentrally in a building as a sector-coupling element: it generates high flow temperatures of up to 80 °C for heating, hot water and process heat, can optionally be used for building cooling in summer, and enables direct electricity generation from natural gas and biogas. In addition, the company offers individual storage solutions and energy management of complete systems with PV, battery storage, heat and cooling. Biogas, natural gas, methanol and hydrogen are used as energy sources; for seasonal storage, the company relies on Power-to-X technologies such as methanol. Target groups are owners and operators of multi-family buildings, industry, public buildings, hotels, school complexes and neighborhood solutions in Switzerland. Reference projects include the suissetec Campus Lostorf (the first Minergie area in Switzerland) and Switzerland's first building-integrated methanol plant in Bassersdorf.

Energy sources and materials
Methanol (CH3OH)
Seasonal storage medium from Power-to-X synthesis of hydrogen and CO2, used for CO2-neutral living in Bassersdorf.
Hydrogen (H2)
Storage medium produced with electricity and feedstock for methanol synthesis.
Biogas
Renewable fuel for CHP units and peak-load boilers, e.g. from local biogas production.
Natural gas
Fuel for electricity generation in the CHP unit of the Hybridbox®.
Pellets (wood)
Solid fuel for base-load heat generation such as the woodchip heating system.
Carbon dioxide (CO2)
Feedstock together with hydrogen for the synthetic production of methanol.
Polycarbonate (light building elements)
Transparent facade elements in the suissetec Campus Lostorf.
Ecological concrete
Used in foundations and walls according to Ecobau standards.
Wood (structural timber from the Solothurn forest)
Regional structural timber for the building construction of the campus.
