About Hydropower & Welding Experts
Hydropower & Welding Experts GmbH (HPWE), based in St. Pölten, Lower Austria, is an engineering service provider for the hydropower industry. Its core competence lies in the design and engineering of Kaplan, Francis and Pelton water turbines; the hydraulic profiles used are laboratory-tested or optimized in collaboration with hydraulic institutes by means of CFD analysis. In addition, the company offers service and upgrades of existing hydropower plants, with the aim of a significant increase in output and a short payback period on the investment. Together with the partner company Kochendörfer Wasserkraftanlagen from Bavaria, power plant installations are offered worldwide on a turnkey basis. Further services include finite element calculations (FE calculations), project management as well as brokering of manufacturing facilities and the contribution of manufacturing know-how through a worldwide network. Verified implementations include, among others, the Kirchberg and Twengbach power plants in Austria as well as Vaman in Sweden and Melikom in Turkey. The company is a member of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce.
