About Hydrospider
Hydrospider AG, based in Niedergösgen, produces green hydrogen exclusively from renewable energy. In a power-to-gas process, water is split into hydrogen and oxygen by electrolysis; the electricity required comes from the adjacent Alpiq Gösgen run-of-river hydropower plant on the Aare. The 2-MW electrolysis plant produces up to 300 tonnes of hydrogen per year, enough for around 40 to 50 trucks or about 1,700 cars. The company handles the procurement, production and logistics of the CO2-free gas, stores it in special gas containers and delivers it to hydrogen refuelling stations. The green hydrogen is currently used primarily in mobility and logistics and supports the decarbonisation of heavy goods transport via fuel-cell electromobility; non-automotive applications are planned. Hydrospider also supports producers of certified green hydrogen with marketing and sales. The company was formed from a cooperation between Alpiq and H2 Energy (45% of shares each), with Linde GmbH holding 10%.
