About HygNova

HygNova is a Berlin-based medical technology start-up developing a technology-based reminding, monitoring and live-reporting system for hospitals and nursing homes. The system increases the hand disinfection rate and thereby reduces nosocomial infections and their associated costs. With the product HygNova ADVANCE, hand disinfection – the most important measure for preventing hospital infections – is documented automatically, reducing workload and documentation effort. Special sensor technology and machine-learning algorithms detect all five WHO moments of hand disinfection. A touchpad serves as the control center for hygiene aspects in the hospital room, reminds staff and patients to disinfect their hands via light and sound signals, and offers gamification and education content for sustainable staff motivation; usage statistics provide direct feedback. The company was launched in 2016 under the Berlin Startup Scholarship and was funded, among others, by the EntrepART coaching program and the EXIST start-up scholarship.
