About IBL Lighting
IBL Lighting GmbH is a manufacturer of LED lamps and LED modules based in Ratingen. The company was founded in 2000 and, from 2009 onwards, developed its own LED modules based on the 50-mm standard format for luminaires originally designed for halogen lamps. Its core product is a patented interchangeable LED chip technology (Gen1 through Gen4XL), which allows individual light sources to be swapped or upgraded without disposing of the entire luminaire. The modules consist of aluminium heat sinks and circuit boards, LED chips and hybrid lenses made of plastic. In addition to new production, IBL offers lumen upgrades, CCT/CRI changes, and a refurbishing and buy-back programme for LED modules, including the complete overhaul of more than 100,000 Gen3 modules. Following audit visits to the Chinese supply chain in 2015, the company relocated development, assembly, product testing and quality control to Ratingen; in 2024, 75% of procured materials and sold products came from Germany.
