About us
Imfeld Metall- und Stahlbau AG is a family business based in the canton of Obwalden that has been active in steel and metal construction since 1980. The company manufactures steel structures, bridges and footbridges, balcony systems, railings, handrails, stairs, pergolas, canopies, industrial facades, loading stations, gates and explosive storage units. The value chain covers planning and design, workshop production including laser cutting, welding and bending, as well as surface treatment by hot-dip galvanizing, powder coating and stove enameling, and finally installation on the construction site. Materials processed include steel, stainless steel (CNS), aluminum, laminated safety glass, wood and stone. The entire operation is certified to EN 1090 EXC2 for the welding of steel structures. Customers come from building construction and industrial construction, residential construction, infrastructure and bridge construction, as well as tourism and mountain railways. Since 1987, the headquarters with production halls and offices has been located in Lungern; the subsidiary COMVIT AG in Thun, acquired in 2009, expands the range with products made of aluminum, steel and glass.

Materials & Processes
Steel
Base material for steel structures, balcony systems, stairs, railings and industrial facades, usually hot-dip galvanized or powder-coated.
Stainless steel (CNS)
Ground CNS tubes and bent CNS handrails for railings and handrails indoors and outdoors.
Aluminum
Used for railings, facades as well as doors, windows and balcony enclosures of the subsidiary COMVIT AG.
Laminated safety glass (VSG)
Infill for glass and all-glass railings; two or more glass panes are firmly bonded together by film.
Flat steel (e.g. FLA 40/10, FLA 30/6, FLA 120/8)
Construction profile for chords, balusters and posts of baluster railings.
Laser cutting
Laser cutting of steel sheet, among other things for stair stringers.
Hot-dip galvanizing
Corrosion protection of steel structures such as balcony systems and handrails.
Powder coating
Surface finish for railings, for example in RAL 7016.
Stove enameling
Surface finish for handrails and steel brackets.
