About Industriekeramik Hochrhein

Industriekeramik Hochrhein GmbH (IKH) has been developing and producing fine and ultrafine oxide and non-oxide ceramic powders since 1995. At its Wutöschingen site near Waldshut, close to the Swiss border, the company operates two modern production facilities with which customer-specific powders are manufactured flexibly and quickly to individual specifications. The portfolio includes fine oxide powders and plasma spray powders, submicron SiC grades for sintering, and composite materials for thermal spray processes. For ceramic shaping, premixes are offered for dry pressing, powder injection molding (high- and low-pressure), slip casting and extrusion. In addition, IKH supplies powders for precision/investment casting, rapid prototyping, as well as aggregates for brake pads and sintered brake pads. Customers include, among others, the automotive industry, aerospace, mechanical engineering, steel processing, foundry technology, the glass industry as well as environmental and energy technology. Cost-efficient quantities for test and trial purposes are also produced.

Materials and Processes

Al2O3

Aluminum oxide

The most widely used oxide ceramic material with an excellent price-performance ratio for many technical applications.

ZrO2

Zirconium oxide

Exhibits high flexural strength and fracture toughness, occupying a special position among technical ceramics.

Si3N4

Silicon nitride

Used up to 1800 °C in high-temperature technology; low density, high fracture toughness and very good thermal shock resistance.

SiC

Silicon carbide

The most commonly used non-oxide ceramic, e.g. as an abrasive and for dense components with favorable mechanical properties.

B4C

Boron carbide

After diamond, one of the hardest known materials, used e.g. for wear and ballistic applications.

Y2O3

Yttrium oxide

Used as an oxide ceramic material in the IKH product portfolio.

MgO

Magnesium oxide

Single-phase metal oxide of oxide ceramics with a high melting point, high hardness and fine microstructure.

PSP

Plasma spray powders

A wide range of spray powders made from composite materials for thermal spray applications.

PREMIX

Ceramic premixes

Ready-prepared mixtures for dry pressing, powder injection molding, slip casting and extrusion.
