About the Industrieverband Gitterroste

The Industrieverband Gitterroste e. V. (IGI) is a registered association based in Hagen in which the leading German manufacturers of gratings are organized. The association itself does not manufacture products, but rather pools the interests of its member companies and offers an information service covering technology, law and business. The members are significantly involved in the development and advancement of national and international standards, including DIN 24531-1, DIN 24537-1 and DIN EN ISO 14122. In working groups, quality and safety standards for gratings are further developed, complemented by publications such as the Grating Guide and the Architecture Lookbook. From a technical perspective, the association covers the manufacturing processes welded pressure-locked gratings (SP) and press-locked gratings (P), grating stair treads as well as surface treatments such as galvanizing, pickling, painting, anodizing and electrochemical polishing. Technical inquiries from buyers are forwarded to the member companies.

Materials and Processes

S

Unalloyed steels

Predominantly used material; bearing bar cold-rolled, cross bar hot-rolled, with surface treatment as the final production step.

VA

Stainless steel

Robust and corrosion-protected without coating; raw, pickled, electrochemically polished or painted.

Al

Aluminium

Lightweight material for architecture, facades and ceiling structures; pickled, painted or anodized.

SP

Welded pressure-locked gratings (SP)

Fully automatically manufactured; cross bars are pressed in under high pressure and fully welded electrically.

P

Press-locked gratings (P)

Unweakened cross bars are pressed under high pressure into the slots of the bearing bars.
