Engineering Office for Tool Design
Ing. Büro Grimm & Remmert GmbH & Co. KG is an independent engineering office based in Bad Lobenstein (Thuringia), operating since 1998. The four-person team designs injection molding and die casting tools based on part drawings or 2D/3D data sets and delivers drawing sets including bill of materials as well as 2D and 3D data. The range covers conventional tools with slides, rotary slides and collapsible cores, multi-component tools with index plates, rotary tables and locking slides, wood and aluminum overmolding tools, as well as IMD, 2K and overmolding tools. Design work is carried out at four CAD workstations using VISI-CAD; interfaces available include WKF, Parasolid, STEP, IGES, VDA, DXF, DWG and Catia. In cooperation with the mold makers, parts are analyzed with regard to tool-suitable design, warpage, draft and wall thickness ratios. The plastic parts from these designs are used, among others, by German automobile manufacturers and by the toy, entertainment, medical and electrical engineering industries as well as the household goods industry. Customers are primarily toolmaking companies in Thuringia, Bavaria and Saxony.
