Bring Plastic Back – Closing loops with Swiss materials
InnoRecycling AG, based in Eschlikon TG, operates the Bring Plastic Back collection system (sammelsack.ch) for plastics from Swiss households. Using chargeable collection bags, food and household packaging such as tubs (PS), thermoformed trays (PP), non-beverage bottles (PET), tubes (LDPE), hollow containers (HDPE) and beverage cartons (Tetra Pak) are collected. The material is sorted by type and further processed: PP, LDPE and HDPE products are processed into regranulate by the sister company InnoPlastics AG in Eschlikon, PS and PET go to partners in Switzerland and southern Germany, and beverage cartons to specialized facilities in France and Italy. Composite materials and the plastic-aluminum mixture from beverage cartons serve cement plants as alternative fuel. The company pursues the goal of nationwide, consumer-friendly plastic collection in Switzerland and closes material loops so that new products are created from packaging.

Plastics and materials
Polystyrene
Tubs such as yogurt or quark tubs; processors in southern Germany, regranulate is processed into crates, pallets, buckets, films and canisters.
Polypropylene
Thermoformed trays, pasta packaging and flower pots; processing into regranulate by InnoPlastics AG in Eschlikon TG.
Polyethylene terephthalate
Non-beverage bottles from households; further processing in Switzerland and southern Germany into films and textile fibers.
Flexible polyethylene
Tubes for hand cream, toothpaste and more; regranulate processing by InnoPlastics AG.
Rigid polyethylene
Hollow containers such as cleaning product and shampoo bottles; suitable for material recycling.
Beverage carton
Approx. 75 % carton, approx. 21 % PE, approx. 4 % aluminum; carton fibers for corrugated cardboard, plastic-aluminum mixture as RDF.
Composite material (aluminum/plastic)
Non-separable composite materials are supplied to cement plants as alternative fuel; 1 kg of RDF replaces 1.2–1.5 kg of coal.
