Invertek Drives Ltd. is a globally active manufacturer of variable frequency drives (VFDs) under the Optidrive brand. At its UK headquarters in Welshpool, Powys, the company develops and produces drive platforms for general-purpose applications, high-performance applications, HVAC/R, lifts, OEM and compressor applications. The products optimise motor control, improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs in industries such as building services, refrigeration, lift engineering, material handling, water/wastewater and agriculture. Since 2019, Invertek has been part of Sumitomo Heavy Industries (Sumitomo Drive Technologies EMEIA) and has since invested in production and warehousing space as well as a Customer Training and Application Centre. With more than 420 employees, around 300,000 drives sold per year and revenue of GBP 72.8 million (2025), the company supplies customers in over 80 countries; the export share is 93–95 %. Manufacturing follows the principles of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001:2015.
