About IonKraft
IonKraft GmbH is a spin-off of the Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) at RWTH Aachen, headquartered in Aachen. The company develops the plasma-based barrier coating IONX as well as fully automatic coating systems for plastic packaging. Using PECVD (plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition), an ultra-thin, glass-like nanocoating (below 100 nm) is applied to the inner surface of plastic containers, preventing substance migration and enabling mono-material packaging. The barrier properties are equivalent to multi-layer composites with EVOH or to fluorination, yet remain fully recyclable – recognized by RecyClass and the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR). The modularly designed systems can be integrated into existing production lines and offer online process monitoring. Customer industries include food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, household and industrial chemicals.
