About iQ International AG
iQ International AG, formerly iQ Power AG, is a stock corporation with its legal domicile in Zug, Switzerland. The company was founded in 1994 in Canada and is dedicated to the development, manufacture and distribution of lead-acid batteries, mainly used as starter batteries for motor vehicles; an entry into the industrial battery business was planned. At its core is the licensing of its own iQ battery technology to battery manufacturers; for example, from 2012 there was a licensing and development agreement with the Brazilian manufacturer Moura for EFB starter batteries. After the sale of the Slovenian plant Interbat in 2012, the company focused on the licensing business, acquired an R&D company in Chemnitz in 2015 and in 2018 was merged into the iQ International AG founded together with the US technology group Engenavis. In 2023, insolvency proceedings were opened over the company.
