About IQS
IQS GmbH, based in Ilmenau (Thuringia), produces fused silica/quartz glass and develops custom product solutions from it for the fields of optics, analytics, high-temperature applications and semiconductor manufacturing. The company uses a proprietary manufacturing process that produces quartz glasses with excellent optical and chemical properties; these properties can be tailored to customer requirements if needed. In addition, an innovative shaping process is used that resembles injection molding and offers geometric possibilities that would be unthinkable or uneconomical with conventional manufacturing methods. A well-known product is the opaque quartz glass Diffusil®-UV, which is used in the SHERLOC spectrometer module of the Mars rover Perseverance as part of NASA's Mars 2020 mission. Customers include companies from the aerospace sector as well as from optics, analytics and semiconductor manufacturing.
