Isar Aerospace – Launch Services from Bavaria

Founded in 2018, Isar Aerospace is a privately funded launch service provider for small and medium satellites as well as satellite constellations. The company develops the two-stage Spectrum launch vehicle entirely in-house and covers the entire value chain from design to launch as a vertically integrated operation. Production is based on a high degree of automation and state-of-the-art technologies such as additive manufacturing of complex engine components made from high-performance metals as well as automated series production of the one-piece primary structure made from carbon composite. Non-toxic propellants and pyro-free, in-house developed separation systems complement the technical approach. More than 400 employees from around 50 nations are working towards the goal of making access to space scalable. More than 500 million euros of private capital have been raised; across five countries, Isar Aerospace offers Dedicated, Lead and Rideshare launch configurations.

Materials and Manufacturing Processes

HPM

High performance metals

Complex engine parts are 3D printed; this enables design freedom, part reduction and shortest lead times.

CFK

Carbon composite

The primary structure of the launch vehicle is a one-piece component made of carbon composite and is manufactured in an automated process.

PROP

Non-toxic propellants

Offer very high density-specific impulse and allow an optimized vehicle architecture.
