Competence and experience in damage management
IUM Umwelttechnik GmbH was founded in 1980 in Gevelsberg by Ing. (grad.) Jürgen Dahlke and Ing. (grad.) Ulrich Wüseke and employs 21 staff (as of 2015). The engineering office for environmental technology and mechanical engineering develops and implements all-in solutions for technical damage management: from damage analysis and hydro-geological investigation through CAD-based detailed design to the dimensioning, construction, operation and maintenance of water treatment systems. The portfolio includes atmospheric and vacuum desorption (stripping) systems, activated carbon adsorption (air and wet activated carbon filters), ion exchangers, bioreactors, sand and gravel filters, iron and manganese removal systems, light liquid and coalescence separators, as well as soil vapour extraction systems and pumping technology, including the in-house developed displacement pump DMP 5". More than 1000 remediation projects have been carried out for renowned German companies; currently IUM operates around 75 groundwater treatment and extraction systems, monitored via process visualisation and remote monitoring (fixed network and GSM/radio, IUMControl).

Materials and process technology
PE-HD (column vessels)
Material for column vessels of stripping systems, chemically resistant to the contaminants being treated.
PE packing bodies
Packing internals in stripping columns to increase the interfacial area in the counterflow process.
Steel
Frame structure for PE-HD column vessels.
Activated carbon (air and wet activated carbon)
Adsorbent for cleaning stripper exhaust air (filters LF10: 460 kg, LF30: 1380 kg) and for water treatment.
Sand and gravel
Filter material in pressure vessels for iron and manganese removal from groundwater.
Potassium permanganate
Oxidising agent for dosing in manganese removal systems.
