J. M. Gabler-Saliter Milchwerk GmbH & Co. KG is a traditional dairy based in Obergünzburg in the Allgäu region and has been part of the Ehrmann Group since 1998. At its sole production site, around 190 employees manufacture dairy products such as coffee cream, coffee milk, milk-based mixed drinks in deposit-free glass bottles, as well as skimmed and whole milk powder. The processes include ultra-high temperature heating (UHT), aseptic filling into sterile glass bottles, and spray and drum drying (the historic Saliter process). The milk is sourced from contract farmers within a radius of about 30 km, including Bioland organic milk for the organic product line. In addition to consumer products, the company serves as a B2B competence center for baby food and specialty products, such as recipe development for enteral nutrition, and supplies the further-processing food industry with milk powders in sacks. In 2023, around 50 million liters of milk were processed with revenue of approximately 65 million euros; products are sold to more than 20 countries worldwide.
