J.W. Schaefer Metallverarbeitung GmbH & Co. KG is a family business founded in 1908 in Remagen-Oberwinter with the legal form of an ornamental and structural metalwork shop, today producing single-unit custom work and series products from steel, stainless steel and aluminium. The range of services includes design and planning with CAD software, CNC production, metalworking, ornamental blacksmithing as well as assembly and transport – from garage doors, canopies, balcony and stair railings to commercial vehicle washing systems and the burglary-resistant cigarette cabinet ROX through to the boat lift system cabioclu. A particular focus is boatbuilding: the flood rescue boat UNIBOOT, made entirely from aluminium sheet, the solar boat SONNI and the bathing ladder SLEITER are produced for fire departments in Germany and Austria as well as private customers. In addition, the company realizes artistic one-off creations and the assembly of large sculptures, among others for the Hans Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck and artists such as Ernesto Neto or Aron Demetz. Since 1973 the business has used the buildings of the former factory Kleinhans & Eckertz in Oberwinter; all products are created from idea to manufacturing entirely in Oberwinter.
