Jakob Schmid GmbH & Co. KG (JSO), founded in 1882, is a manufacturer of CNC precision tools for machining wood, plastics and composites. The product portfolio comprises over 2000 standard tools, including solid carbide milling cutters, drills, tools for hand-held routers, HW and indexable insert cutters with the patented RAPIDO indexable insert system, diamond-tipped cutters (DP/PKD) as well as clamping devices for CNC machines. In addition, the company develops custom special tools, which are tested by CAX simulation and strength testing before production start-up. Manufacturing takes place exclusively in Germany at the Neresheim-Elchingen site. In the company's own technical laboratory, cutting tests, tool life tests and process data collection are carried out on CNC and hand-guided test rigs. JSO also offers a tool service with resharpening, decoating or coating and re-tipping of PKD tools. Sales are handled via specialist dealers worldwide.
