About JAN KATH
JAN KATH is a company based in Bochum specializing in handwoven designer rugs. Founder and designer Jan Kath (born 1972) combines classical elements of oriental rugs with contemporary, minimalist design in his collections. The rugs are produced in hand-weaving workshops in the Himalayas, in India, and in Morocco's Atlas Mountains, which are often run as small family businesses. Natural materials are used, which, combined with manual craftsmanship, give each rug an individual character. The company distributes its products through a global distribution system as well as through its own showrooms, including the Bochum headquarters and locations in Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Vienna, Groningen, Palma, New York, Cannes and Vancouver. The production facilities carry the Fairtrade label STEP with independent inspections of working conditions.
