About Caleo Color
Caleo Color is a brand of Jenpix GmbH based in Jena and produces clay paints and water-based lacquers. The clay paints consist of at least 22% genuine mined clay from Germany as well as clay powders and are mixed ready-to-apply exclusively with water – without the addition of chemical solvents, plasticisers, microplastics and without synthetic binders. Every paint is freshly mixed by hand in the manufactory upon ordering and delivered ready to apply, virtually drip- and spray-free. The range includes over 103 shades as velvet-matte clay paint as well as colour-matched lacquers for wood, metal and plastic. The lacquers are saliva-resistant, comply with the standard EN 71 Part 3 (safety of toys) and have a VOC content of 0.3 g/l. The products are sold via an online shop as well as the retail store of the partner Naturanum in Jena-Maua and are aimed at private individuals, construction and interior design, and the painting trade.

Quality and product safety
The lacquers are saliva-resistant and comply with the standard EN 71 Part 3 for the safety of toys. Clay paints and lacquers are vegan, free from animal testing and free from the addition of chemical solvents; all ingredients are fully declared.

History
- 2019
The idea for Caleo Color emerged in March 2019 during a walk in the Jena Forest; the founders Gundel Woite and Benjamin Paschold knew each other from their joint work at the agency Jenpix.
- 2020
Launch of Caleo Color with a small collection of clay paints for children's rooms; later expansion of the range to all living spaces.
