About JETPEL
JETPEL is a spin-off of the Institute of Jet Propulsion and Turbomachinery at RWTH Aachen University and, as an engineering company, develops propulsion systems for aircraft. The core product is the JETPEL Engine, also called Jetpeller: a jet propulsion system that generates thrust via a uniform air jet through a thrust nozzle – in contrast to propeller propulsion with individual rotating blades. The propulsion system is powered by an emission-free hydrogen fuel cell, enabling quieter jet flight without direct emissions. According to the company, the design is based on physics, science and engineering expertise. The company has been part of the Aachen Silent Air Taxi (A.S.T.) project since 2015, was founded in 2019 as e.SAT Powertrain GmbH, and has been operating under the JETPEL brand since 2021. In addition to its own developments, JETPEL offers engineering services and cooperates with the Institute of Jet Propulsion and Turbomachinery at RWTH Aachen, on whose test rig test campaigns for the Jetpeller are carried out. The company is headquartered in Aachen city center (Marienbongard 24).
