Drive technology since 1943 – the Uhing rolling ring principle
Joachim Uhing GmbH & Co. KG develops and manufactures linear technology for industrial machine building at its site in Flintbek near Kiel. Core products are the rolling ring drive, produced since 1952, the backlash-free traverse nut, timing belt drives and the tool-free clamping elements easylock and U-Clip; these are complemented by automation solutions such as the Uhing Motion Drive and the Uhing Measuring System. In-house manufacturing produces, among other things, precision shafts made of Cf53 (1.1213) as well as rust- and acid-resistant stainless steels (1.4034, 1.4112), which are ground, polished and induction hardened; since 2023 a 5-axis CNC machine has been in use, with which components are manufactured burr-reduced to burr-free. Aluminium and stainless steel housings are anodized or given special coatings, among other finishes. The drives are used in winding technology, automation, metrology, special machinery construction and other industries such as the wire and cable industry, packaging, textiles, pharmaceuticals and medical technology. Around 60 % of production is exported; the company supplies customers in more than 45 countries with the help of 36 sales partners.
