Joh. Wilh. von Eicken GmbH is an independent family-owned company of the tobacco industry, now in its eighth generation, headquartered in Lübeck. The company manufactures the entire spectrum of tobacco products from raw tobacco to the finished product: cigarettes, fine-cut (roll-your-own and pipe-ready cut tobacco), pipe tobacco as well as cigars and cigarillos, partly also as private-label production for other companies. The value chain includes tobacco purchasing, processing, fermentation, drying, blending and packaging. According to the company, tobaccos such as Virginia, Burley and Orient come from the best growing regions in the world; for the Manitou brand, organically grown tobacco has been used since 2008. Cigarettes are produced fully automatically at the Lübeck headquarters, cigars and cigarillos machine-made in Dingelstädt, and hand-rolled longfillers at the company's own manufactory in the Dominican Republic. With around 950 employees and more than 30 brands, the company supplies customers in more than 120 countries; the export share is approximately 60 percent.

All production phases from tobacco processing to packaging and labeling are monitored and controlled in-house. Since February 2013 the company has been certified according to IFS Food; audits carried out by auditpartner GmbH achieved the rating "higher level".
