About Johann Steinnus Steinmetz
Johann Steinnus Steinmetz is a traditional stonemasonry and sculpture workshop in Cologne, run since 1978 in the sixth generation of the Steinnus family and located directly adjacent to the Melaten Cemetery on Aachener Strasse. The studio designs gravestones, memorials, cemetery facilities, fountains and gardens and works on objects such as sundials, sculptures, reliefs, coats of arms and urban furniture. Another focus is the restoration, renovation, refurbishment and reconstruction of historic buildings and works of art, including heritage protection. Working materials are natural stone, iron and bronze; engravings and lettering are possible in a wide selection of different typefaces. Every commission begins with a detailed analysis and is extensively documented; the work is carried out in close consultation with the clients. Owner Johann Steinnus is a master stonemason and sculptor, a state-certified stone technician and a restorer.
