About the Workshop
Since 1993, Josephine Lützel has run her own silversmith's workshop in Winterhausen near Würzburg. She produces handcrafted silver tableware such as jugs, carafes and tea services, unique pieces and jewellery, including objects such as the candelabra "Changelier". All pieces are made as individual commissions by hand from silver and sterling silver; the techniques include silversmithing raising, joining and finishing, complemented by engraving skills acquired during an internship in Strasbourg. Her work is shown at fairs such as the Zeughausmesse Berlin, the Grassimesse Leipzig and the Internationale Handwerksmesse München, and is held in public collections, including the Mainfränkisches Museum Würzburg, the Deutsches Historisches Museum Berlin and the Zilvermuseum Sterckshof in Antwerp. The workshop has received several awards, including the Bavarian State Prize 2007 and first prize for applied art at the Zeughausmesse Berlin 2008.
