The Workshop

Jostes & Eberl is a violin-making workshop in Lübeck, founded in 2016 by Julia Jostes and Simon Eberl. Working in the craft tradition, the two luthiers build new violins, violas and violoncellos, frequently based on historical models such as Stradivari, Guarneri del Gesù, Goffriller, Tecchler, da Salò and Giacomo Gennaro. The portfolio also includes the restoration of string instruments. The workshop regularly takes part in renowned competitions and has been awarded several times by the Violin Society of America, including the Gold Medal for Tone for a quartet in 2022. Its customers include musicians from orchestras, chamber music ensembles and music academies, among them Professor Aleksander Gebert (HfM Detmold) and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. All work is carried out exclusively as one-off custom builds in the workshop on Aegidienstraße in Lübeck.
