About the Foundation
The Julia Stoschek Foundation is a non-profit arts and culture foundation dedicated to the public presentation, mediation, preservation and study of time-based art. It administers the Julia Stoschek Collection, one of the most comprehensive private collections of time-based art, with over 900 works by around 300 artists from the 1960s to the present day. The spectrum spans video, film, single- and multi-channel projections, multimedia environments, performance, sound and virtual reality, complemented by photography, sculpture and painting. The programme includes rotating exhibitions, screenings, guided tours, artist talks and publications as well as cooperative projects with international institutions. The Foundation operates two publicly accessible exhibition venues: the main building in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel (over 3,000 m² in a former industrial building from 1907) and the branch at Leipziger Strasse 60 in Berlin-Mitte (approx. 2,500–3,000 m²), whose closure at the end of October 2026 has been announced. In 2026, the foundation presented “What a Wonderful World: An Audiovisual Poem”, its first major exhibition in the USA (Los Angeles).
