About Junghans Defence
Junghans Microtec GmbH, based in Dunningen-Seedorf (Baden-Württemberg), develops, designs and manufactures fuzes and fuze systems for artillery, mortars, medium calibre, tanks, anti-tank weapons, guided missiles, bombs and torpedoes. The portfolio comprises impact fuzes, time fuzes, combination fuzes and multifunction fuzes for artillery guns of calibres from 76 mm to 203 mm, as well as electronic fuzes with radar sensor technology and pyrotechnic elements including EFI and LEEFI detonators. The company is a joint venture of the Diehl Group (55%) and the Thales Group (45%) and, together with the French subsidiary Junghans T2M, operates under the umbrella brand Junghans Defence. Originating from the Junghans clock factory founded in 1861, the company draws on more than 160 years of precision mechanics experience. Its customers include major international armed forces and munitions manufacturers; the artillery fuzes comply with NATO standards (STANAG, AOP, MIL-STD, JBMoU). Before 2022, around 150,000 fuzes were produced annually; 450,000 were planned for 2024 and up to 750,000 fuzes for 2025.
