About us

Kaffeerösterei Kastel is an owner-managed specialty coffee company located at Frankfurter Straße 22 in Mainz-Kastel. Only fair-trade green coffee is roasted, sourced through the Hamburg coffee importer Rehm & Co (Benecke Coffee GmbH & Co KG, Fairtrade FLO-ID 1033). The refinement is done by traditional drum roasting over a gas flame, with the beans heated slowly and gently at low temperatures to fully develop their aroma. Roasting takes place close to consumption, i.e. coordinated with dispensing and sales; customers may also attend the roasting sessions without registration. The range includes 14 different coffees from India, Ethiopia, Brazil, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Colombia and Costa Rica, complemented by individual coffee blends developed on site together with the owner. Distribution takes place via retail store sales, an online shop with postal shipping, and gastronomy dispensing partners. In addition, the range includes chocolate specialties, flavored sugar and coffee-related accessories.
