About Kalkwerke H. Oetelshofen
Kalkwerke H. Oetelshofen GmbH & Co. KG is an owner-managed family business in the basic materials industry headquartered in Wuppertal-Hahnenfurth. The plant site is home to one of the most significant limestone deposits in Europe, which has been mined in the Oetelshofen quarry for around 125 years. The company extracts the raw stone by blasting in its own quarry, processes it into grain sizes from 0-2 mm to 32-45 mm (including crushed stone, mineral mixture, paving sand TL 0-5 mm, pre-screened material 0-22 mm) and burns quicklime in its own lime kilns. The products serve, among others, the steel industry, the construction sector and environmental protection. In the circular economy field, Oetelshofen offers soil treatment and stabilisation with quicklime, the production of liquid soil from excavated soil available on site for sewer and pipeline construction, and pre-screened material as a cost-effective backfill material. In addition, the company is engaged in the decarbonisation of the lime industry, among other things with a pilot plant for CO₂ capture using the membrane process and species protection measures in the quarry.
