About Kappa optronics

Kappa optronics GmbH was founded in 1978 and has been developing and manufacturing application-specific cameras and vision systems in robust, certifiable designs for over 40 years. Since 2026, the company has been part of the THEON Group and serves an international market with locations in Germany, Spain and the USA. The product range comprises vision (sub-)systems and board-level cameras for day and night operations, particularly for safety-critical environments in aviation, defense, autonomous flight systems, switchgear monitoring, medical technology and automotive. The scope of services includes special signal processing, mechanical adaptations, custom interface configurations as well as the integration of optical components, lighting and video management. The systems are suitable for small and medium production volumes. Kappa meets requirements for design assurance, qualification and certification in hardware and software development and is registered with the NATO supplier code C4792.

Quality Management

Since 1994, Kappa has been expanding its quality management with industry-specific certifications, including for medical and aviation. Product design and development undergo verification, validation and certification measures including environmental testing and design assurance in accordance with RTCA/DO-254, RTCA/DO-178 and MIL-STD-498; production staff are trained and certified to IPC-A-610.
