About Karl Schilt
Karl Schilt GmbH + Co. KG Metallwarenfabrik, based in Balgheim, specializes in the cold extrusion (cold forging) of custom fasteners and is considered a pioneer in working stainless steel with this technology. The company produces chipless formed parts with tolerances down to 10 µm, set screws ISO 4026 to 4029 as pressed or turned parts from M1.6 to M42, and special screws with extremely small head diameters; machining finishing is carried out in-house. Materials processed include steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass and copper; an in-house hardening plant completes the depth of manufacturing, while surface finishing such as electroplated zinc and zinc flake coatings is handled with qualified partners. Every day, more than 500,000 set screws, special screws and fasteners leave the plants. Customers come from the automotive industry, aerospace, medical technology, the electrical industry and the construction sector. Since 2015, the Schilt group has also included Alfred Ebinghaus GmbH & Co. KG in Hattingen (machining of larger set screws up to M42) and Erich Ulrich GmbH & Co. KG in Bad Dürrheim (cold extrusion up to M18).

Quality
Quality management begins with material purchasing and runs seamlessly and fully documented through the entire process chain to delivery. Production uses a non-contact air gauge as well as opto-electronic quality assurance with multiple cameras; first article inspection reports, IMDS entries and works test certificates according to DIN EN 10204 are standard.
