About Karmeliten Brauerei
Karmeliten Brauerei Karl Sturm GmbH & Co. KG in Straubing is one of Germany's oldest breweries, with a founding history dating back to 1367, when the Carmelites established their monastery with a brewhouse in the Straubing Hofstatt. The company has been family-owned since 1879. It produces monastery beers and beer specialities ranging from refreshing, light varieties to strong beers, including alcohol-free, wheat, Radler and organic beers. The raw materials come predominantly from the region; since 2017 the brewing barley has been grown within the city limits of Straubing. With investments in a new brewhouse (2013) and the completion of the energy concept (2022), the brewery now operates in an energy self-sufficient manner. More than 30 employees work at the Senefelder Straße site in the Straubing East industrial area. The company sells its beers in the region of Lower Bavaria and has been represented with a beer stand at the Gäubodenvolksfest since 1953.
