About Baur
Baur is a body manufacturer founded in Stuttgart in 1910 with a long tradition in vehicle manufacturing and in converting series-production vehicles. The company has been building BMW convertibles since the 1930s and developed the targa-style TC construction method, which was sold as an aftermarket option and, with factory approval, through BMW dealers. Today Baur operates as a body-and-assembly plant for IVM Automotive, a member of the Ed Group, and has built prototypes for manufacturers such as Porsche, Audi and Ford. Services include vehicle prototype construction, convertible conversions, retrofit conversions on customer vehicles, special interior leather work, and robot-assisted welding of chassis components. Baur is also known, among other things, as the production site of all Porsche 959 vehicles, which were built there on an assembly line with Porsche inspectors.
