About Kartoffelkombinat

Kartoffelkombinat e.G. is a cooperatively organised community-supported agriculture (CSA) initiative founded in Munich in 2012. At the Spielberg market garden in Egenhofen just outside Munich, the business cultivates over 50 organic vegetable crops, supplemented by potato growing on its own arable land. Certified according to Naturland's organic guidelines and to Naturland Fair criteria, production is entirely seasonal and regional. The harvest is distributed weekly as harvest shares via distribution points in the greater Munich area; optionally available are organic bread from a Munich organic bakery as well as additional products such as apple juice, flour and pearl grain through partner businesses. With over 3,000 member households and around 2,300 households supplied weekly, Kartoffelkombinat claims to be the largest CSA in Germany. The cooperative does not operate for profit but on a cost-recovery basis, and was awarded a Common Good Economy audit in 2016 and the EU Organic Award by the EU Commission in 2024.
