About Kaspar Weiss Sand and Gravel Works

Kaspar Weiss GmbH & Co. KG Sand- und Kieswerke is an independent family business founded in 1939, headquartered in Aschaffenburg-Goldbach with gravel plants in Rodgau Nieder-Roden and Babenhausen. The company focuses on the extraction, processing and refinement of quartz sand and gravel from deposits in the Hanau Basin. Extraction is carried out below the groundwater level using floating dredger systems; transport to land is via floating belt conveyor systems. In the processing plants, the raw gravel is washed several times, separated by screening and hydraulic classification into grain size classes from 0–0.5 mm to 8–16 mm, and stored in silos or on open stockpiles. Products are delivered loose or in big bags, ex works or with the company's own fleet; the main sales market is the concrete and building materials industry in the Rhine-Main region, as well as construction chemistry and water treatment. After extraction, the areas are reclaimed; in 2025 the company commissioned a floating photovoltaic system with up to 2.1 MW at the Rodgau gravel plant.

Products and Processes

QZS

Main quartz sand

Pure quartz sand with high abrasion resistance from the Hanau Basin, e.g. for concrete, mortar, road construction and construction chemistry.

KÖR

Gravel (aggregate)

Multiple-washed, screened and hydraulically classified aggregate in fractions from 2–4 mm to 8–16 mm.

SCH

Crushed stone

Coarse aggregate as a natural building material, among other things for road and civil engineering.

RHK

Raw gravel

Unprocessed gravel as the starting material for processing.

Quality

The products are subject to in-house production control (WPK) in accordance with DIN EN 12620, DIN EN 13139 and DIN EN 13043. Daily inspections of the processing stages and weekly sampling of the sand and gravel fractions ensure product quality; declarations of performance and grading curves are documented per site.
