Family-owned company since 1910

Katjes Fassin GmbH + Co. KG, headquartered in Emmerich am Rhein, is a German confectionery manufacturer and ranks among the three largest companies in the German sugar confectionery market. The product range includes licorice, fruit gums, candies and sherbet fizz under the brands Katjes, WICK, Ahoj-Brause, Sallos and Gletschereis. Founded in 1910 on a Sicilian licorice recipe, the family-owned company has produced licorice using mold-casting technology since the 1930s and in 1971 became the first to make fruit gum with yogurt. Since 2016, the entire German product range has been vegetarian, and almost all products are vegan – gelatin, artificial colorings and, since 2007, nature-identical flavorings are avoided; instead, fruit juices, fruit pulp, plant concentrates and pectin are used. Production takes place at the parent plant in Emmerich and at the transparent candy production facility in Potsdam-Babelsberg; since 2020, all German plants have produced in a climate-neutral manner.
