About us
Kernholz GmbH was founded in the early 1980s in Berlin-Kreuzberg and specialises in the development and manufacture of timber structures for outdoor use. The portfolio includes playground equipment compliant with DIN EN 1176, street and park furniture such as benches and seating platforms, terrace installations, pavilions, pergolas as well as custom solid timber structures and art objects. Another focus is the interior fitting-out of daycare centres with furniture, cloakroom installations and play levels. Production uses regionally sourced solid timber, primarily oak, robinia and larch, which are suitable for outdoor use thanks to their natural durability without chemical treatment. Processing is carried out using classic and modern timber joints based on the principle of constructive wood protection; surfaces are treated with water-based glazes and paints. The team of ten craftspeople and three apprentices works in the workshop on Leuschnerdamm and on construction sites throughout Berlin; the value chain includes consulting, planning, manufacturing, assembly, metalwork and foundation work as well as maintenance and repair.
