About KGW Schwerin
KGW Schweriner Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH manufactures in Schwerin fully outfitted steel tubular towers for wind turbines as well as heavy steel constructions according to customer specifications. The main manufacturing processes include welding, machining, outfitting and corrosion protection; in addition, embedded part systems are produced and assembled, and contract manufacturing in the field of marine equipment is offered. Owing to the maritime tradition of the location, KGW also manufactures components for offshore applications. Its capacities include more than 250 tower sections per year with diameters up to 4.5 m, section lengths up to 35 m and section weights up to 80 t; around 20,000 t of steel are processed per year. Customers include wind turbine manufacturers such as Nordex, Gamesa, GE Wind, Suzlon, AN Windenergie/Siemens, DeWind and Enercon, with worldwide references among others in the USA, Japan, France and South Africa. The company with around 100 employees is led by Johann Erich Wilms and belongs to the Wilms Group.
