Kies-Bandemer & Co. Eifel-Quarz-Werke is a family-run building materials company founded in 1933 and headquartered in Niersbach (Eifel). At seven plants, quartz sands and gravels are extracted from the company's own deposits and processed in production lines with crushers, screening plants and paddle washers. The main plant in Binsfeld features an optical sorting system for premium chippings and a drying tower for kiln-dry material. Through its subsidiary EKQW (Eifeler Kalksandstein- und Quarzwerke), sand-lime bricks have been produced from lime and self-extracted Bunter sandstone since 1960, and ready-mixed concrete is produced at concrete plants in Niederkail and Binsfeld. The products are used in structural and civil engineering, road construction, landscaping and garden design. The company employs around 80 staff, operates a fleet of around 40 vehicles and recultivates extraction areas in close cooperation with municipalities and authorities.

Quality management
Production control is carried out jointly with external testing institutes; weekly samples of the certified gravels and sands are analysed in the company's own laboratory, among other things for grain shape, composition and fines content. Concrete quality is monitored in the company's own laboratory as well as by the building materials testing institute Trier and the BÜV NW.
