Kies- und Transportbetonwerk Schlegelsberg GmbH & Co. KG operates a gravel plant and a ready-mix concrete plant in Erkheim. At the gravel plant, gravel, sand and chippings are processed in numerous grain sizes; the product range includes washed natural and crushed sands, natural gravels, concrete gravels, crushed stone and premium chippings in several grain sizes, partly in accordance with DIN EN 12620, DIN 13139 and TL Gestein-StB. In its own ready-mix concrete plant, ready-mixed concrete is produced and delivered to the construction site by truck mixers; a 16 m telescopic conveyor belt allows direct placement of gravel and concrete. Raw materials are crushed, washed and screened in the company's own plant; the facility is fully automatically controlled via a PLC system. Customers are construction companies, trades businesses and private customers from the Bavaria/Swabia region. The family business, founded in 1964, employs 16 staff; administration, weighbridge, workshop and an in-house testing centre for concrete testing are located at the Erkheim site.

Purchase of the farm of Josef Haas in Erkheim on 02.12.1963 by Josef Mang, a construction entrepreneur from Holzgünz, for the establishment of a gravel plant.
- 1964
Commissioning of the gravel plant in autumn with crushing plant, rolling mill, sand recovery and gravel washing plant as well as 9 silos of 40 m³ each.
- 1998
Expansion and modernisation of the concrete plant: two additional cement silos of 90 t each, replacement of the 1.5 m³ forced-action mixer with a 2.25 m³ mixer.
